2008 sees Gregg
Whelan and Gary Winters celebrating 11 years of performance making
as Lone Twin. Across the world the company's work is met with critical
and popular acclaim with a truly international audience enjoying an
ever-diverse range of works for stage, studio and public space.
Lone Twin and the newly formed Lone Twin Theatre are committed to creating entertaining and hopeful works that appeal to a wide audience. Projects range from public events created for specific community contexts to touring theatrical shows.
In 2004, KunstenFESTIVALdesArts,
Brussels commissioned the 24-day performance To The Dogs.
In 2005 the company toured to 18 cities across the world and presented
an unprecedented four works at The Melbourne International Festival.
In 2006 Niine Years premiered at Steirischer Herbst, Graz,
and went on to tour Europe and USA. 2006 also saw Lone Twin Threatre
create the debut work Alice Bell. Alice Bell premiered
at KunstenFESTIVALdesArts before embarking on sell-out international
tours.
2007 saw the company create two major new public projects. The eight-day
performance Spiral, commissioned by the Barbican, took an
impossible journey through the unique public spaces of the Barbican
estate. And in Town Crying the company teamed-up with famed
Town Crier John Stevens to create a series of performed stories based
on conversations with local people across the North East of England.
Town Crying was produced by Forma and commissioned by Dott
O7.
In 2008 Lone Twin Theatre created Daniel Hit By A Train, the
second piece in a planned trilogy; this new work premiered at the
Vienna Festival ahead of various international tours. In the autumn
Lone Twin will present two newly commissioned pieces for Barbican
(Speeches) and Melbourne International Arts Festival (Newsboys).
